The overflow...that's me in the blue...going gaga and fondling the fabulous fibery goodness.

It's true, knitters can't hide their love for some good fiber!

Sarah's was heading into the homestretch with her Olympic Knitting!
We went crazy for her gorgeous Tubey!

Chelsea and her pattern in the Happy Hooker book from Debbie Stoller!

What a great time.
A special thanks to Ann for hosting us in her lovely home and to all the lovely ladies I got to hang with...
Knitting Blogs seem so personal, but nothing beats spending an evening in person with fabulous gals who get why knitting is such a passion.

Stay Tuned:
I've got a very special shout out to Catalina yarns and a full spread color photo review of their awesome new Urban pattern books...I've got 6 books to give away with some alpaca yarn they so generously sent to me.

hanging up...

in my closet...

Click for The Flip Side

Completed: 2006
Yarn: Reynolds Lopi
Color: Cocoa Tweed 008 (3.5 skeins)
Needle: US 11
Pattern: "Knit It!" Spring/Summer 2006.
Size:Tweaked

This is the Knit (sh)it Shrug...
I knew that Gauge and I would be adversaries, HEJ detailed this in her blog.
I tricked sold my soul finessed the knitting g-ds to get it to fit just the way I wanted. Smaller!
I modified the sleeves, 3/4 length is so what I am into lately. I didn't knit with bigger needles...I reknit the front pieces twice.

My method of finesse?
Try it on and knit, repeat. Measure self, knit. Shake fist at Knitting g-ds, knit. Seam, grit teeth. Weave ends, curse floofy ends. Pickup Stitches, growl, knit ribbing. Bind off. Pray. Try on. Peek in mirror.
Dance. Sing... I fought the Shrug and ah, I WON.

Other than that...

These are the things that I've been doing...
...broke down and ebay'd the yarn for Cutaway (that's Rowan Wool/Cotton in Gypsy)
I sold some knitting stuff...so it counts as stash use...right? Damn. I did say 80%. hehe.
...started my March Project Spectrum a bit early (sweater for my niece in Washable Wool/Blend)
...Watching Sex and the City Complete Series (Season 6 - my guilty pleasure)
...picking out my spring knit in the Phildar Tendances. (I love me some haute couture!)

Enjoy your weekend...mine's jampacked already.
psssht...keep it on the DL, but it may involve food, wine and yarn with some DC Metro Area knitters!

ciao!

The Somewhat Cowl

Here she is...The Somewhat Cowl

I really enjoyed the pattern, it was very well written by Wendy, simple to make and the result is fabulous.
The yarn is gorgeous. It's light and drapes well, it is a pleasure to knit with.

PICT0026.JPG

Completed: 2006
Yarn: Lavold Silky Wool
Color: Moss
Needle: Addi Natura/Brittany DPN US 4
Pattern: Knit and Tonic- The Somewhat Cowl
Size:Second Smallest with sleeve shaping
Modifications: I added length to make the sleeves a bit longer.

I couldn't resist doing a little spacey photo-op :)
This sweater deserves the very best!
That's a model of Hubble Space Telescope behind me - one of the many projects here at GSFC.
I work with them from time to time and they are true explorers!
Check out some of the beautiful nebulas and galaxy photos if you have a chance...it's mindblowing.

I've been on a knitblogger pattern binge lately, I really want to knit Cutaway
I purchased the pattern, I tried on Jenna Pink Monkey's, and have begun scouring the internet for *good* deals on Rowan Wool Cotton - alas, there is none to be found in the colors I'd like, or for the price I want.

This is a good thing, because as I have little self restraint when browsing for yarn, the Rowan yarn search violates my stashbusting resolution, which I have managed to stick to with surprising aplomb.

wah.

I have some knitpicks Merino Style...and I have just enough to make it, so I'll end up having a petal pink cutaway...which is perfect for spring, yes?

Ahhh, the things I do to thin out the stash, this self restraint is excrutiating!

FOs are so good for your self esteem!!
I'm off to sashay around work in my new sexy sweater...rowr

Holla!
