Yarn of the Century!

I've been wanting to work with Felted Tweed, since I started knitting.
I'd thought I would use it for Rogue...but used Jo Sharp instead.

Imagine my delight yesterday when I got my latest and greatest project in the mail....
Felted Tweed=midnight & corn

MY *new* FAVORITE YARN!!!!!!

Pardon me as I wax poetic...

Oh, how I've dreamed of thee,
My dearest Felted Tweed.
Here you are in all your Ravenclaw-y Glory,
ready to be knit like Mrs. Weasley did in first HP Story.

mmm. oh yes...Another Weasley!
Plus, Lauren and I are doing a HP Scarf Swap.
A Ravenclaw for A Griffindor!
I was thinking of finding a patch and sewing it on there as a little extra somethin-somethin' for my bud Lauren.

Pixie is so cute...I made her tell Lauren and Kris all the HP spells she knows...
It's so funny when she waves her wandhand and says
"arresto momentum" or "expecto patronum" or "oculus reparo"
Can you tell we're some crazy Harry Potter lovin' Cowgirls?

ah, ha! I forgot to say I'd also ordered some labels...for all these gorgeous things I've been cranking out this year and last...

My labels!

Do you like them? Able Labels baby!

Here are a couple things I did this weekend...
Got Dressed up...(for me that is dressed up!)
Dressy H

Played Video Games after a few drinks...with this Boyo...

Came home with this...Michael Kors - 70% off the sale price @ Bloomies
Which has become my new favorite bag...

It fulfilled my one must-have requirement for a handbag...
A cell phone pocket!
So very stylish...and CHEAP!

Ah. I've begun knitting the front of Pixie's Birthday Sweater...and brought FBS to work with me...

I ripped FBS last week...because I made a mistake (at knit nite) and couldn't figure out how to fix! Doh. But I've re-done my provisional and am ready to begin anew. Chart one, Row One.

So, now I've only got two wips.
In the interest of self discipline...there will be A Chez P'Stikz Edict!

*There will be NO Casting On for the HP sweater until I've finished at least one of these babies.
*There will also be much selling of the stash on Ebay.

Is it Lunchtime? I've been CRAVING those Taco Bell Fresco Tacos...anyone else addicted? mmmmm!

Ravenclaw...

This is my favorite day of the work week. I try to complete all my *work* projects and just spend the day preparing for next week's activities...

I just sip my coffee...catch up on my knitting pals' blogs and their fluffy yarn adventures...no worries.

Today is no different...except that I am about to out myself as a Harry Potter Fanatic. I've joined the Another Weasley Knitalong. I scoured (I mean, scoured) the internet for the last remaining Rowan Pattern for this knitalong.

I got the out of print pattern! Truly a victory item.

The last one...and I think (according to the lady) a rodent gnawed on it.

I've purchased my yarn. Since I was sorted into Ravenclaw --- yonks ago --- I've decided to use these colors.

This is my fall project. Of course I will be using the H for the letter.
heh.

Here is the progress on Pixie's Birthday Sweater. I've set aside everything else (FBS) to hurry up and finish. I'm still only on the back.

I'd like to thank ya'll for the comments on Mean Green...such a simple and classic pattern. I'm anxiously awaiting her debut in the fall.

Other Knitting Progress...
I'm still plugging away at the Flower Basket Shawl...I'm on my first repeat of the 2nd chart.

Pixie's Birthday sweater is coming along famously...This is on US3's so it is taking a little longer than ol mean green...but this Phildar Plaisance yarn...so gorgeous.

Now I can't wait for the change of seasons...all these sweaters to wear!
Rogue, Mean Green, Klaralund...

Make it a great day!

I'm looking to offload a Colinette Vintage Knits Kit. I'm not going to knit it...
It's in the color Terracotta.
It's rather expensive...and untouched.

Baskets a brewing...

Well, I've been mailing stuff like a wild woman. Thanks for the trades, the cash and relieving me of this dusty ol yarn!

Back to work as well...Shuttle has landed, so worklife resumes.

This is what my evening looked like...

I've been felled with the lace bug again...Flower Basket!

A Closer inspection...

I only got this far last night...mmm.

Mean Green has the sleeves blocked...the shoulders seamed. I need to sew in the sleeves, the sides and wait for my buttons.

I've completed the back of Pixie's bday sweater. I forgot to take a pic...but this Phildar yarn is DIVINE. So nice. Very Purple.

Now, I was on the phone with my sis...Kelly when I saw this on the road.

Crap in a can! Someone thought that was clever?

Updated: that is a ginormous pair of golden testicles hanging from that SUV...sorry about the quality of the pic...but EWWWWWWWWWWW! WTF??!

High Fashion Friday

First, thank you for all the lovely comments on my Kiri.
That affirmation from you all really was awesome.
I'm so proud of how far I've come knitting wise and without this community...I'd not be so inspired.

Went to Borders on Wednesday.
We looked at the new knitting mags...after our my 3 drink dinner out with "Le Posse". Wooo!
Hey! A girl needs to unwind occasionally.

This is the way they look at me after 3 drinks...
Holy Crap in a Can!
Knit'n'Style finally hit the nail on the head. I personally think this issue should have had this for it's cover sweater...most apt.
It accurately represents the gist of almost every knit they showcase.
fugly!
My sentiments EXACTLY! (not High Fashion)

---

Confession time at Chez P'Stikz...

I love the song by Pointer Sisters "Automatic"
I played it 4 times into work this am. Sick!

I found out that *some people* prefer Baby Gap to Rowan Designs.
Hm. Who woulda thunk it. No need to rush anymore!
(no, I'm not offended...)

I am a fickle knitter (see below).

I desperately need to destash.

I've been cutting off my head in the FO pics because of my desperate need of a trim and a highlight.
2" Roots are not High Fashion.

---

Which brings me to my haircut.
I know this is a knitting blog...but I really think my darling Mina outdid herself.

A dashing young man in Sephora told me that my hair "is HIGH FASHION...!"
Please alert John Galliano that I am ready for my runway debut!
ha! Those who know me best know I am a dorky quirky bird.

Kickin it like Punky Brewster...
I love hair putty...Sticky rice is the best
High Fashion! Le Colour! C'est Magnifique!
Salon Cielo - Mina

---

Okay, now onto the knitting portion of this blog. Ah, finally!
Pixie's B-day Sweater
Oh! How I love thee, Phildar.
Phildar = High Fashion, Non?
Image from http://www.skinnyrabbit.com/stash/000466.php
Close up - pinky purple goodness
ribbing...in cotton...mmmm
Progress!
I keep seeing Pixie in this sweater...sigh...cute!
This yarn is Phildar Plaisance...In Camelia...on US 3s.
(Pl-ay-sense --- my midwest pronounciation)
because according to my Pixie...Purple is so very.
She will be very surprised...and I know she will love it.

---
Destashing? Did someone say Destashing?

I was inspired by Becky to clean house!
My next post will be about destashing...with pics!
I want to consolidate my stash. I'm overrun with yarn.
Sometimes, less is more.

I'm talking the good crack yarn here, people!
koigu, lornas laces, reynolds, rowan, phildar...etc.

For sale or trade!
Stay Tuned.

How to wear...
DSCN0116.JPG

I'm not too happy about her points blocking the way they did.
I'm sure if I hadn't skivved off 2 rows at the end, they'd be a lot better.
Eh, C'est la Vie!

In case you were wondering...what I plan to do with Kiri...well stay tuned!

---

My second pair of socks!
retro_rib_done.JPG
Completed: July 2005
Yarn: Tess Designer Yarn's Supersock (100% Merino)
Color: Vibrant blues, yellows and greens
Needle: US 1 (Addi Natura Bamboo DPN)
Pattern: Interweave Knits Fall 2004 Retro Rib Socks
Size:Tweaked a little for my small feet (Size 5 1/2 - 6)

So happy to have these done. Don't get me wrong, I love socks...I just like simple socks, I'm not so much on the pattern down the top of the foot.

New Project
--------------
I mentioned many times how I need to knit something for Hannah, my niece who turns 1 year old this month.
It's going to be a push...but I am going to attempt to get this little sweater done in record time.

From the Tadpoles and Tiddlers Rowan book
Yarn: Knitpicks Merino Style in Petal

These few rows are brought to you today in part by the letter I for Insomnia.

Whew! After all that work... I need some of this.
