Hello Moto!
So satisfying to finish...and to wear!
Bolero...you sly dog you...
I just finished the back and front edging on the Bolero...and am almost done with the sleeve #1 edging.
I expect to have it modeled for you this evening...
I'm so excited.
Oh, and so disappointed in the IK Issue I got on Saturday.
Decent Designs?
Interweave Knits Fall Issue Page
Union Square Market by Kate Gilbert of course...very chic...not me...but chic. Bravo, Kate.
Amy "Boogie" King's Drop Stitch Cardi
Love that. Thinking of making it. really like it. a lot.
Saving grace of the mag for me, thanks Amy.
Rib and Cable Socks..decent.
The subscriber content is okay for the sock pattern.
Le sigh.
I ebay ordered the July Simply Knitting. I cannot be stopped.
If I can't buy yarn...then ogling the shiny magazine pages will have to do.

I love getting close to finishing a project. Stay Tuned!
Well, I have to say that I'm all smiled/laughed out...I have nothing left to give except this tiny representation of how AWESOME it was to spend time with Tanya!
Just look at what she made Pixie and I...

Come on, you know you wanna touch my monkeys.
(Insert SNL Sprocket Dance)
Don't these guys remind you of RunDMC with the hat? heh. MY ADIDAS!
Okay...
I'll try to do the last couple days justice.
Wednesday Evening
We met up at the Greenbelt Metro...We both were wearing our Pink...(of course we coordinated the evening before!) Swung over to the Outback Steakhouse (a fair dinkum side) and talked, talked, talked, talked! It was so fabulous.
I'm such a chatterbox...but we gave each other a run for our money!
Apres Dinner, we were off then to our adventure at Folk Art Studio and Cafe...the Best LYS EVER...in part due to it's fabulous owner...Kathy.
We discovered rather quickly that she and just about everyone has a thing for monkeys...who knew?
Hello! Tanya made Zira...Queen of Felted Monkeys (and someday the WORLD)
hm, why would I question the eventual world domination by The Queen and her Felted Monkey Minions? I must be Crazy!
Check this out...

This is Our lovely Kathy from FAS who wouldn't relinquish the monkeys...who had us rolling with her accents! Kathy, know that you are loved!
Hot Monkey Love, Cheeky Monkeys, Scottish Monkeys in a Kilt, Ooh lala french monkeys...there was no end to our depraved monkey humor.
So after the monkey madness (heehee) subsided...Pixie read to us.

You are never too old for Arthur and D.W.
She can be rather shy...so when she instantly warmed up to Tanya...I was bustin with pride.
Thursday Knit Nite
We were without our dearest Donna...who was in Nantucket.
We met up at Savage Mill that used to process cotton fiber into canvas sails, which is now a little antique mall and cafe/restaurant meeting place. Very cool, lots of artists...and really neat stuff.
Tanya and I met up a little earlier...I was totally trying to get as much time with her as possible...and we walked around talking, talking, talking, talking and looking at antiques.
I took pics of the buddhas and these *shudder* um, lamps.
(I am going back for at least one of the buddhas this weekend...that would make it Buddha #60?)

Then it was dinner and knitting (oh g-d the waiter...was he in slow motion?)

Awww...
"mmm kiss, kiss, kiss"
Ei just loved her Birch...can you tell?

"We can't forget Zira!"

"I just lost my needle"

No worries, an instant later it was found!
no knitting? you want knitting?
Here's my Bolero progress...I have a couple stitches I have to redo from last night...it's hard to knit and laugh!

I'm totally worn out...but this was such a wonderful first meeting and I know not the last. T, you rocked my world...and thanks for everything.
Yo! Everyone have a great weekend.
Okay...here is my yarn haul from the weekend.

Someone is going to have a one skein wonder soon, methinks.
I'm so distracted from the bolero, because I got stalled knitting this.

It's that old story...so close to being finished, and startitis strikes.
Tonight. The bolero and I will finish up the edging. I'm so close and it's so cute.
Oh, and I got this 3 days before it was scheduled to hit newsstands in the UK...via ebay! This is definately my new favorite mag.

Plus! *Free Cable Needles*... I know, like I need any more dammed needles...but I just love free stuff!
(P.S. Thanks for all your lovely comments yesterday...I just love reading about everyone's lives in knit-blogland and thought I'd share a little about my fDH and our adventures...)
(P.S.S. Last night, I spent over an hour on the Phone with The Muse!!! She's in town for the week...and man, I haven't laughed so much in a long dammed time. I think we just click! I can't wait until tomorrow night and thursday knit night!)
I hope you don't mind me sharing some non-knitting content about my life...
This weekend was a busy one...and with all couples...there is a certain amount of compromise when activities are planned...right?
Sunday
His Thing
We went first to The Latino Fest in Patterson Park, Baltimore...My Boyo, who is an expert in 2 other martial arts, is studying Capoeira and planned on meeting some of his friends there...so off we went. Oh, the music, the food, the *vendors!...It was super loud, it smelled of all kinds of exotic foods (yum), and everyone was smiling and moving to the music.
Here he is playing his berimbau (a brazilian musical instrument), I think he's getting quite good...and exceedingly cute in this picture. :) sigh.

He's playing here...
It was a good time. I love to see him doing things he likes.
My Thing
We've established over the years when a yarn store is nearby, we'll visit it. There is no time limit...there are no loud sighs to signal "Are you ready to go yet?"...and there is always a good commentary on colors, yarns, and patterns. He would give you a good critique of the ones we've visited.
He has an eye for what looks good. It's like "Straight Eye for the Confused Girl" He always bails me out from fashion faux-pas.
The LYS adventure begins....
A Good Yarn in Fell's Point, MD

They had a good small selection and the staff was super friendly and conversational(unlike some stores that will remain unnamed)
I did get some yarn and some addi naturas from them...
Saturday, I got some Wildfoote sock yarn from Folk Art Studio when Pixie and I picked up our Pottery. I love these little skeins.
I'll update tomorrow with my treasures.
This update will include my skeins of Strawberry Creme Cotton-ease I got for less than $1.50...my new *buddha...the delish cottons I picked up on Sunday to make the one skein wonder...and the cute skeins from FAS.
It was a good weekend.
Relaxing and good for hand-holding and making eyes at one another.
*I also was gifted with Buddha#59...no matter where we go, we find them...it's so cool...at a latino fest? Please. It's good karma.
This post is guaran-damn-teed to have everything...Can ya stand it?
Recap...Knit Night.
Ate, laughed, drank margaritas, knitted.

Ei, Donna, Me & Lauren
Don't you just LOVE Donna? :)

SHOPPING!!!

I love this Simply Knitting Mag. I am subscribing. Hello! Free gift! Nice Patterns.
mmmm...
Don't adjust your monitor...that IS a Knit'N Style - it's for the socks...I swear!!...it's for the socks.
Buddha #57

I had a visit from a Beautiful Angel Pixie...

UNO FINISHED SOCKIE
Retro Rib #1

I've just begun Retro Rib #2.
FIERY BOLERO
(Note to self:Self, that's Bo-LER-oh, not Boh-lear-OH)

I'm so ready to pick up the Fa-zillion stitches and make me a cute lil shrug-wannabe!!
POTTERY
Folk Art Studio, Please! (Too much amanda show, please)
We also painted pottery for Dad's Day coming up...

I couldn't resist painting a Sheepie...

Light on content, heavy on pictures.
mmmm, not too shabby.
Enjoy the Day!

Here is where I am on the Fiery Bolero...You can see the left front and the sleeve. I have to admit I have had more than one instant of panic when trying to make heads or tails of this mass of knitting. I am getting close to the point where I have to pick up and knit a fa-zillion stitches in ribbing. I still have no complaints with the Cathay.

Lauren came over last night and we had ourselves some din-din and some knitting with the Forsyte Saga...I hadn't seen her in almost a month!
Look at that Woolerina Handspun she gifted me with! I'm in love.

Well, since I haven't before...I'll introduce you to our Beta Fish, *Polpot. He's been around for over 2 years...and he's still feisty! We treat him like a king. He's well loved...and he comes to me when I tap on the glass or when I eat dinner in front of him. Gotta love the Old Boy.
(*we name all of our pets after dictators - our next will probably be named Chairman Mao or Darth Beta)

Oh yeah...and my retro rib (at my desk)...I cannot forget about these awesome socks...they are a little slower going as they are on US1's...and I am really only knitting on them at lunch and in meetings. I still have one to go!
IMHO, Tess makes the best yarn. I am addicted at $12 bucks a skein!
I also finally got up off the dollah...and ebay'd myself a REAL swift. Yay! What to do with the old one (aka Ye Olde Contraption) ...maybe I should call the Smithsonian to see if they need it for an exhibit!

See even the enlightened know Tanya's Good Handspun when they see it...(pic courtesy of Lauren)
Next up...Houston, We have MoonPies!!
I'm just feeling Craaaazy these days...
Craaaazy 'bout my knittin' buds (Sans Our Dear Lauren, wahh!)
Who I saw last night...
Ei and Donna
It'd been over 2 or maybe 3 weeks since I have seen them...
Donna made us Hpnotic Martinis (hic!), Grilled Dill Shrimp with a Feta cheese dip, and Chinese Chicken Cabbage Salad...Oh, it was fabu! Beyond words, really. What a hostess...

Ha! She's all ours, people! (plus I am 9 minutes from her house...woohoo!)
We got to see all of her FO's and some of her WIPs...she's hella talented.
Ei was working on her DH's Looove Vest...

Out of this lovely perfect evening, came a new fall knit-together! A hint...I'm going to use Karabella Aurora 8...and not DB Cashmerino. Oh, and there are cables, too...
Here we are posing just like we were taught from The Photogenic One
I think Ei has a better one...much more chic.
I'm Craaaazy about my new socks!

I wore them into work, because it's cold and rainy today.
My partner in crime at Work, J.W. has become my new knitting Photog. :)
Yes, yes... Friday is for wearing your own handknitted socks.
Weekend Plans: (just in case you were wanting to know)
Well, it's craaaazy...
I'm doing Happy Hour with Ei and her DH tonight... yay!
Saturday, I'm going to climb the other peak of Mount St. LAUNDRY accompanied by my DB Bolero...(I'm working the left front)
Sunday, I am going to Fell's Point (where I am told there is YARN...) to hang out with some peeps and homies...possibly after having lunch with Lauren!
Whew!
