Washa...Washa...Washa...

Thanks for all the Uber Awesome Comments on Mexico...It was a blast!! I'm loving my tan!

This Memorial Day was all about the LAUNDRY.

I lost count at 8 loads of washed, bleached, folded and put away LAUNDRY.

Oy. I decimated an entire bottle of Tide with a Touch of Downy...(which I love dearly)

But the best thing about LAUNDRY, is the in-between times. Every knitter knows what to do with a spare minute or two....YOU KNIT!

Fiery Bolero in DB Cathay in Black
Purchased from the KnitHappens! Online Store

I really only had about 4 inches done on the middle section, so the arms are a recent addition...All of the MD knitgirls know that with my 3 bad experiences with Debbie Bliss Yarns, I shun her yarns. I think now I will say, I shun her Merino Blends... I really like this Cathay. It's knitting up perfectly, evenly with out a hint of excess Flerf.

No Flerf is a good thing. Good for my knitting zen.
Yes, It's good to be thankful for the little things.

I generally watch TV while I am knitting and/or folding LAUNDRY...this occasion was no different...

I watched The Forsyte Saga...This is a great series. It was over 420 minutes, and I watched it all. That is a lot of LAUNDRY and a lot of knitting!

At this rate...I should be able to distract myself from any more lace repeats on Audrey's neckband!!

Damn, I'm so slick...

hola!

Well, I'm back and rested...

8 days in Cancun was just what the Doctor ordered...long enough to get rested and make you miss everything familiar.

The weather was perfect. The drinks were refreshing. The natives were welcoming. The tequila was, well, flowing.

I've picked the best pictures to share...

garden_oasis.JPG
This was the garden view (our first room) from the balcony of our hotel
So beautiful...
balcony_view.JPG
We were lucky to "upgrade" to an oceanfront room on our second day!
Amazing...

One of my favorite things I indulged in...
cervesa_heather.JPG
Una más cerveza, por favor!

garrafon_view.JPG
We went to Garrafon Park...it's an adventure/nature park on Isla Mujeres (across from Cancun)...I tried Snuba (snorkel/scuba)...and quickly discovered that while nice and peaceful...I prefer regular snorkeling. :)

The best part was laying around in hammocks!

I know this is silly...but after our dinner out...our waiter made me this...
PICT0315.JPG
A paper rose...isn't that crafty?

henna_tat.JPG
This is as close as I will get to a tattoo...Henna!
(aren't I red? ow!)

heather_coba.JPG
We also went to Coba...it's not as commercial or as restored as Chitzen Itza. We mountainbiked through the complex and climbed up!
It's the second tallest mayan pyramid. Only 5% of the complex is uncovered.
You can see me in the pink t-shirt.
Man, was it H.O.T.
I thought my face was going to melt off...

heather_cancun.JPG
I had a marvelous time...Can you tell?

Knitting? I got your Knitting right here!

retro01.JPG

I did knit while I was there! My fiery bolero had to stay stateside due to losing one of my denise US5's (grr!)...but Retro Rib was with me all the way...
I knitted in the room before bed every night...I knitted on the plane.

This is that Tess Designer sock yarn...I have to say I am in love with this yarn. I think I like it better than, ahem, koigu. shhh...keep that under your hat...but I really do.

It's good to be back - I missed my Pixie like crazy!

Next up...Audrey!

My First Socks!

I survived the wedding...and grafted/kitchener'd some sock toes.

It was a slow knitting weekend...but I finished my first pair of sockies!

My boss dubbed these "Camo Socks"...in a meeting we had not too long ago.

Sheep&Wool 2005: Book One

Everyone has made their way around the blogs and seen the photo ops and heard all the stories...

Now it's my turn.

Went to breakfast...and guess who joined us?

It truly was a total chance encounter! Wow, Good Karma!

I spent the day with my sister, Kelly, Donna and Zira!

heaz_sheepwool.JPG

We hit the Main Exhibition hall with 3 things in mind.
1) Morehouse Merino Kits O' Fun
2) Chocolate Soap
3) Sock Yarn

We found everything but #2. We made due with the oatmeal mint and the lemon soaps...sigh. Terrible, eh? Thanks to Claudia for her blog's advice on the soap...I would have totally missed out on the lovely scents I did pick up and the ordering form for the chocolate soap at a later date!

After our mini shopping rush, we headed over to get our teeshirts and bags (good thing too - I hear it was slim pickin's later on)

Then a bite to eat before mosing along to the impromptu Harlot Meet and Greet

YH with Zira...(photo from Donna)

YH graciously signed my book...even though I made her pose with the Monkey and sign two books! (photo from Donna)

Donna, Kelly and I got to sit and knit on the grass, meetup again with the Georgia Girls, Mein Uber Beth(Stitches!), Jenna, Nathania, Lara, Sarah B, and the other Sarah... and so many other bloggers I can't take the time to list ...it was really terrific. I saw a lot of other bloggers I read, but I was rockin and rollin with my MD Posse...and for months we've all been looking forward to enjoying this together.
There is something to be said for makin memories with your best pallies...and experiencing with your sister her first Sheep and Wool. It's all good. Nuff Said.

Beth_h_chibi.jpg
Mein Uber Beth gifted me with a pink chibi...Can you believe it? Thanks, Beth...x/o

The day wouldn't have been complete without Ei and Lauren meeting up with us later...Ei found us at the Tess Booth...completely mezmerized. I must admit...I had been saving myself for that moment all day.

We headed over to the Brooks Farm Crack Booth...I quickly found I happen to be a magnet to large quantities of mohair fuzz floating about in the air...Ah-choo!
I left my compadres to their oohing and ahhing over the crack mohair. I think I could have spun a yard of that stuff with the amount I had plastered to my shirt :) Yes, I'm bitter I didn't get any crack mohair.

dinnerwithknitters1.jpg
After the festival... we all were so happy to sit down, have some drinks and eats... Can you see my burned forehead?

Got to meet Becca...the multi-talented superwoman in an alpaca cape! So great to meet her...Her hair rules!

It was a great time...I was fortunate to sit next to Elisa and wax poetic about how I love her blog (flogic rules). hehehe
That's Kate down at the end...It was so great meeting you, Kate...Stitches East or Bust!

P'Stikz Yarn Haul...
I really did try to hold back...

Morehouse_kits.JPG
Morehouse Merino..how I love thy kits
I had more blogger sightings in this booth...and if you didn't get there...it was slim pickins at the end of the day...I know because I went back for more.

SW_sockies.JPG
Sock yarns with needles...I'm hooked on socks
That's Tess' sock yarn and Drafting Zone Merino

Tess_ribbon.JPG
Tess Designer Ribbon yarn...and corresponding Tank Pattern (not shown)...it's gonna be fun winding up this yarn. NOT. (Donna! We're doing this together!)

All in all, I think I showed restraint.
Good Times.

Impulse buy at All About Yarn last thursday...I have to tell you...Ei was with me and didn't stop me...enabler! Plus she loaned me her 2's! What a pal! Thanks, Ei!

It's a good test run for the baby sockies...you can't give away krunked up knits! (heh, nice excuse, eh?)
