MeMe, MeMe, MeMe

I was tagged by Ei to do this

TV MeMe...so here it goes.

1. How much space is left on your TiVO or Camcast box?
I have every single cable station known to man, yet I have no TiVo. This continually saddens me. I do have a reminder feature on my Cable Box...but it is a sad replacement for a TiVo. I think I would love the TiVo more than any man ever. Well.... I love T.V. what can I say?

2. Have you ever bought a DVD of a TV series and if so which one?
Sex and the City (HBO) I, Claudius (PBS) and Pride and Prejudice (A&E:Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy...YUM!) oh! and Shogun (all 18 hours of it)

3. What was the last TV show you watched before reading this message?
News... looking for closings and weather info...SNOW

4. List five TV shows you won't miss.
I am not too crazy about...(forgive me if you see your fave show)
ER, Alias, Any of those Crime Dramas, Fear Factor, The Bachelor(ette)

5. Name 3 people you will pass the stick.
Keowdie, Tanya, Donna

Bookish MeMe From Lauren

What was the last book you read or are reading?
Audiobooks...I love Audiobooks
The Virgin's Lover by Philippa Gregory (Queen Elizabeth, I)
Next on the list : The Machine Crusade - Brian Herbert

Where did it come from (library, bookstore, gift, etc.)?
Audible.com and Simplyaudiobooks.com

How many books do you read per year?
Maybe 6

What is your favorite genre?
I love dramatized historic novels. For example Margaret George.

I also LOVE the Dune Series, even the ones written by the son. Hey, I will take what I can get. You can only read 6 books so many times. I believe I have read/watched/listened to Dune over 200 times. I am a geek. Ask my family. They had to suffer my quotations, incessant viewing and reading.

Who will you tag now?
Keowdie, Tanya, Donna

Knitting MeMe

Do you knit using the English or Continental Method?
Um, I am Continental I think. I used to knit twisted. I don't wrap the yarn around my fingers either. I just hold it and tug on the yarn to get proper tension. *gasp*

How long ago did you learn to knit?
3 years ago and some change

Who taught you how?
Like most knitters, from a book. No big deal.

What was your first FO?
A blue scarf. I still wear it. It's hideous

Favorite yarn?
Cascade 220 and Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed. Those are my favorites by way of sheer use.

Aesthetically, I love Phildar Phil Onde. It's the coolest yarn ever. IMHO

Favorite pattern you’ve knit so far?
It's between the French Market and Rogue. I enjoyed knitting both. Rogue amazes me that I have gotten this far... French Market was the first pattern I changed successfully. I get more complements on that bag. :) Tasha and I had a love hate relationship, but I still love her.

Favorite Pattern Source?
Duh, Knitty
Rebecca.

Favorite Needles?
Denise Interchangeables and Brittany Birch Double-points

Nicest thing you’ve ever knit?
My Phil Onde Sweater, and then it will be Rogue

Most hated project?
Audrey...still under my bed

Pass Along to?
Keowdie, Tanya, Donna

Stay tuned for my Rogue Grafting Extravaganza! That's right!
With this snow (6-11") I'll be home casting on for both sleeves. This will be my first time knitting two sleeves at once. oooh!

Check out Tanya's Felted Monkey. Everyone wants one. I am thinking I will see a "Monkey See Monkey Do Along" pretty soon. Awesome Job, T!

MAGKNITS is out!
Love the Tee, and the baby layette sweater.

I can see clearly now...

the rain has gone...

Look! I lugged brought Rogue in with me today! Pay no attention to those loosey goosey stitches at the vee neck. I plan to aggressively block those "rogue" stitches, heh. grr.

I have now started on the last 40 odd rows that make up the hood. Then the wonders of grafting...or in an act of sheer desperation I will use the 3 needle bind off...because Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care! Or I will beg, borrow and plead with my very good fluffy friend to help me with the grafting.

(It's no secret that whack dancin' lady knows her stuff)

Queue Twilight Zone Theme...

Tax Season.
For some a journey into darkness.
For others a motherlode of cash.

Our story begins with a single mother, who upon receiving her tax refund this year, decides to forgo the yearly tradition of purchasing an outrageously expensive purse.
Her decision: To fly her sister in for Maryland Sheep and Wool. This decision will no doubt ring the ginormous bell of Karma and heap blessings upon them both in the form of fiber...
This is the Twilight Zone.

heh. oh boy...I get to see my fab OG 5 in April, and then have my sister come to share in fried twinkies, smelly doe eyed sheep, and ONE Fazillion skeins of yarn with me and my knitty pals!

yeah, can you tell? I am stoked.

(to my BIL Matt, thanks)

F-r-i-d-a-y, Hey!

First, I LOVE MY IPOD! I am listening to the Audiobook "the Virgin's lover" By Philipa Gregory - It's about Queen Elizabeth, I. It's good stuff to knit to.
Now I need to start downloading some itunes!

This is how Banff has been languishing in my WIP pile...not even a needle - I don't even remember what gauge I got. I ripped, and will restart. But isn't that color just gorgeous? I forgot how much I love this shade of blue.

LAPIS

ROGUE:
The neck has been split, the left cable completed and the shoulder bound off, the right neck cable is complete and the shoulder about to be bound off...heading for the hood!

So hopefully since Pixie and I both have been stricken by THE ICK (strep throat for her, nasty little virus for me) I will be surrounded by kleenex, cable tv, and Rogue.

Have a happy valentine's weekend!

Crankin Away

Well, I don't have any real progress pics, but I can tell you that I am on row 15 of Rogue's neck cable and her back has been completed.

I am noticing that I am really bad at knitting it when I am among friends.
Say, uhm Knit nite.

Most of my progress on the last knit nite had to be ripped back.

It's so funny, Ei and I would be like "shh! Okay, I am on the cable now" Then complete silence - well aside from the knitters muttering of "hm next stitch purl hold to the back, mmm, ahhh...good. My stitches worked out" Or "Oh, man what did I do? Where is my stitch? oh! There it is!" Or (from me) "#$^@&!!"

Yes, Keeping this in mind, I will be bringing lovely Banff to work on for Thursday's Evening of Knitting. Don't you just love that color? Stay Tuned!

Whoa! That will be two projects active for Chez P'Stikz! Stop the Press!

With the straight needles, Rogue's a bit cumbersome to lug around with me...so this representation will have to do.

You want progress, I got your progress...

I have to say, that I still am in love with this knit. It is so interesting, and knitting the stockinette is just a teaser for the upcoming cable. (Please remind me of this statement when I am trying to graft the hood) Hey, the laundry is piling up and Rogue is to blame!

Pixie and I went roller skating again this weekend, I am telling you that child zips around like she owns that rink! She uses their "Skate Aid" which really is a mini walker for kids on wheels...she ventured out holding ol mummy's hand and did really well on her own. It is such a blast from the past to be skating with one's 6 year old to MJ's Thriller! Now it's retro, but way back then in '84...it was a HIT!

Valentines...

Oh boy. I ordered my valentine's present today. This may seem weird to some, but I pick out my own presents.

I guess it's "Go right to the Source" and it's a great idea!

I got it personalized! I love that! Well, I am a HUGE fan of audio books...and Audible is okay in my book...plus I can listen to them on my ipod while knitting! Not to mention all my dd play lists!

Well, enough about presents...I had Dearest Ei over last nite for some Kir Royales and some Rogue knitting...with it being so cold, I didn't want to take Pixie out and about, so lucky for us, we had a little company! It was a great time. She's beginning the Rogue body, I am on my 36 or some rows knitting back and forth on the back armhole shaping...so we're cruising along.

Startitis ALERT!!

I think I am going to make Clap-o-tee next and I am going to make the
Boogie vest from Knitty...here is the yarn I got to make it with. I love this color!

Reynolds Lopi in 453 Cocoa Tweed

I just really thought that would be great to transition seasons this year. Plus I love the design. I know K did it...and hers was really nice in Blue...and I believe it will be a quick knit.

END Startitis ----> BEGIN Realistic Goals

I have 2 unfinished sweaters I have to get up and out of the WIP Basket

Audrey - Rowan Calmer in Ice Blue
(I have to finish the back, add the lace and seam)

Banff - Some Elann wool in Lapis
(I only have the ribbing done on one side)

Giddyup!
I definately need to finish one BOTH of those before starting on anything else!!!

Since a couple of you asked, My Rogue is being knit with :

Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed in the Color Heather
It's a really great yarn.
Ozeyarn has a good selection at a good price...even though it is in Australia...it's still a better price even with Shipping from down undah.

Well, I am off to finish up my day!

Little Peeks of Progress

Good Morning!

Last night, on my way home, I stopped off at the Folk Art Studio, and grabbed a pair of really long Brittany Straights (8's) and got a piece of their Almond Bundt Cake! I sat down to knit on Rogue on my new wonderful needles, watched Vanity Fair and ate that cake all up! It was a perfect evening.

I am proud to say that I have successfully divided the front and back on my Rogue...I promised you a nice Popping Picture of her lovely side cable...

so here you go!

I really loved knitting this cable, it broke up the mindless stockinette...and made it go really fast. Much better than when I did that 6 feet or so of the Tasha Cable strap!

If you remember, I took Pixie to paint pottery...and here are our lovely creations...don't they look nice?

She did the Mermaid and I did the Fairy
