Fruit Stripe Gum...

Remember that stuff?
The flavor lasted for about 2.3 seconds and then was nasty.
I liked the pink stripe best.
I used to get mine from Grandpa Pigeons. A retail store in Missouri .
Almost as country as the Piggly Wiggly.
I said Almost.
Fruit Stripe Socks...

I took this with my cell phone camera. Not too shabby for a cheapy LG!
My New Motto...
If I have to read boring Juniper Technical Manuals...
I'm knitting some damn socks while I do it.
These are off to sit in the XMAS 2006 gift pile...
For an undisclosed recipient with teeny feet - size 5 1/2 - 6 to be exact.
One xmas giftie done.
6 more to go.
Oh, I've got such high falutin' knitting dreams as of late...
the new magazines, the new books...
but really nothing blew my skirt up as much as this...
(Please forgive the awful puns...)
Really it's too much! ha!
(it maybe NSFW - but I looked at it here at work - I'd say it was PG-16)
The online mags have been kinda hit or miss lately...but this one knit is a classic.
Perfect for your bachelorette party for an unsuspecting Knitter.
Another pair of socks on the needles - for Pixie.
Small feet=Quick knitting=Feeling Good=Happy Me
Can you believe????
In one day, I've turned the heel and am booking down the foot toward the toe.
What??! Yeah, Okay!!
I've knit a bit more than I read...shhhh. It's really dry stuff.
Orangina steadily grows...but man so right... about how slow it goes/grows!
s l o w.
uggggggggggggggghhhhhhhh.
still beautiful though.
I've been swatching for a lovely pattern - I'm using Knit Picks Shine Sport for this...

Posted by: pam at August 10, 2006 05:25 PMWhere did you find that pattern? Google is letting me down!
Posted by: pam at August 10, 2006 05:26 PMYikes! I'm afraid to click on the "handknit for her pleasure" link cuz I'm at work. At the reference desk. But boy, am I tempted.
Fruit stripe gum was the best! that and laffy taffy.
Posted by: Moni at August 10, 2006 08:34 PMI busted a gut twice ... once for the "ribbed for her pleasure" link and once for the Star Trek link ... "expendability" and "ingenuity" are by far my favorites :)
Posted by: Erin at August 10, 2006 08:41 PMawesome sweater! and stripy socks! but oh my, handknit *not* for anyones pleasure...look at all the disclaimers! too funny!
Posted by: shoofly at August 10, 2006 11:26 PMI remember fruit stripe gum... as I remember it was pretty awful...ha!
Posted by: Erin at August 11, 2006 12:55 AMOOH! That Canasta Tunic! Gimme!
Posted by: Jenny at August 11, 2006 01:21 AMFruit stripe gum! It used to my favorite.
Cast on for that tunic, already. Crinkle's on its way to finishdom and I'm about ready for a new project.
Posted by: Becky at August 11, 2006 07:40 AMYou pulled a fast one on me - I wasn't expecting a blog post! :) Glad I could see the cute socks!
Ooo yes, cast on for the tunic- HOT. and perfect for this month's PS!
Posted by: Lolly at August 11, 2006 07:42 AMAh, memmories...I used to make bracelets out of those gum wrappers. I was mad for that gum! Fun socks! TGIF!
Posted by: sUsAn at August 11, 2006 10:08 AMThose Star Trek posters are awesome!! Possibly as funny as the knitted condoms.
Posted by: Sarah at August 11, 2006 10:35 AMI loved that gum. The socks turned out great. I may have to knit the condoms for gifts. With a disclaimer that I will not be responsible for any kids that are a result of their use.
Posted by: Vickie at August 11, 2006 10:52 AMKnitted condom - a little weird, but why not call it a dildo cozy. That could have some buyers. I mean who wants a cold... well, never mind. That's going beyond PG-16.
Posted by: Krista at August 11, 2006 01:35 PMPixie you little trixie... thanks for the fun! Fruit Stripe gum is so nostalgic even if it only tasted good for a few minutes. However, I have a thing for Black Jack gum... yeah baby! BTW- Very cool socks!
Posted by: Gina L at August 13, 2006 10:14 AMFun socks!
I guess almost every object out there could use a cozy... ?
Ooh, Tunique Canasta! Soo sexy and beautiful...
Posted by: isel at August 14, 2006 07:57 AMA Xmas present done already eh? I was just thinking this morning that I should get out the books tonight and figure out what I'm making and get going on it - last year was WAY too stressful and I didn't finish even half the things on time. Smart girl you are.
Posted by: Vicki at August 14, 2006 03:44 PMMy answer to the gum going bad quickly after beginning to chew is to put in another stick of gum and blend the two together that then become three, four, etc. Or chew for a short time until the taste is gone and then put in another piece--as I remember it that was the only way to chew Fruit Stripe gum! I liked the green and white the best.
I will have to pass the posters onto my trekkie youngest son.
I agree everything sounds better . . . tastes better . . . .and looks better in France . . . .even if it is the same here! :)
Posted by: Brenda at August 14, 2006 09:46 PMLoved Fruit Stripe Gum! I was once a maker of gum wrapper chains (still have a couple that I use for the Christmas tree) and the chains are dated by the gums I chewed back then (Teaberry, Life Savers gum, etc...).
Posted by: Kathode Ray Tube at August 15, 2006 11:04 AMAh, the fruitstripe used to be a special treat for me, but you're right, it wasn't a treat for very long! Hopefully, socks will last longer. Tres cute.
I think the best part about handknitted for her pleasure is the disclaimer at the beginning of the pattern.
Posted by: Jenna at August 16, 2006 10:14 AMWhere are the posts, Pixie? Hope all is ok.
Posted by: monica at August 21, 2006 11:27 PMThose socks are as yummy as the gummy! Beautiful work...
