Standing on the table...
I'll do anything for a good shot.
In the natural light...
Completed: July 2006
Yarn: Southwest Trading Oasis (Soy Silk)
Color: Red
Needle: Addi Natura Circular US5 /Brittany DPN US 5
Pattern: Knit and Tonic Something Red
Size: Second Smallest
Modifications: I used DK instead of worsted weight yarn
Extreme Button Closeup!!
Beautiful shell button found at my local LYS
All About Yarn, Columbia MD
I love this sweater, but if I had to do it again, I'd pick a different yarn.
This yarn is wonderfully soft and drapes beautifully...
BUT...
The yarn, if pulled INANYWAYATALL, gaps and little holes appear.
sheesh.
Ei was my pinchhitter when I had to rip out the buttonband
(4 times)
RE-pickup 184 stitches over and over.
Thanks, Ei.
*heart*
I knitted the sweater in a size US5 needle, but had to bind off the button band with a US11.
I did some creative crochet to keep the edge a bit heavier so it would lay flat.
Ah, the joys of a ribbony yarn.
But the end result?
TOTALLY WORTH IT!
Again, I have to give Wendy of Knit and Tonic props...
this sweater is gorgeous!
I LOVE IT!
To cleanse my knitting soul, I started an ankle sock.
Simple, no fuss...no buttonbands...no binding off...
just simple stripes...
Socks are Knitting Meditation for me...
OM.
I LOVE it! What a wonderful little summer cardi! I may have to pay a little visit to knit and tonic (like i need anything else to knit :P )

From now on, I will chant OM whilst knitting all of my socks. Then, I will find true peace :)

There she IS! Yea! you are right, such a gorgeous drape to that yarn. Do you feel that it was worth it, now that you are done? Because it really looks great! Wendy's designs really agree with you ;) Wonder if they would agree with me. I like her new v-neck one a lot :)
Sock knitting meditation is awesome. Om indeed ;)

Posted by: pam at July 13, 2006 11:27 AMI've got my yarn all set aside for that! Although, I'm going to worsted weight. I made her little NSS cardi and love that. What yarn is your sock?
Posted by: LeAnne at July 13, 2006 06:39 PMThat sweater looks great!
The times I've been to All About Yarn have not been that great - they always seem to be having a terrible day and are really grumpy. Is this true for you, too? I've almost given up and have been going to Old Ellicott City lately.
Posted by: Michelle at July 14, 2006 07:51 AMWow! I really like that! It's funny - I didn't like it as much when I saw Wendy's pics - but yours show the sweater off more. It looks fabulous and now want to add it to my never ending queue. Damn.
Posted by: Kathy at July 14, 2006 09:49 AMYou look beeee-U-TEE-full!!!! Kudos on the lovely sweater!
Posted by: sUsAn at July 15, 2006 11:45 AMYour "Something Red" is the best I've seen on anyone. You have made it to fit you perfectly. Did you modify the pattern much? I love Wendy's patterns!
