"So come up to the lab
And see what's on the slab
I see you shiver with antici...pation...."

Yes, I've got no FOs...but I do have progress and a bit of Rocky Horror for you today...
I'm totally loving the Somethin' Red. I've been so faithful.
She will have one mistress and no new WIPs.
See?
The Back...in cool swingy soy silk.
Which is very like ribbon yarn in a way...
Oasis doesn't give.
It's very much like merc cotton, only the texture and the feel is drapey like linen or silk.
Oh, sweet jebus she's a wench when you drop a stitch.
She gives good face though...ah!
I've tried her on...eh, a few eleventymillion times...
*wowie* I love the fit.
The Oasis is dk, so I knitted the second of the smaller sizes.
I probably could have done the smallest, but I think the difference is miniscule.
I've put aside my yearning for fair isle...I'm talking YEARNING here...YEARNING.
Yes, I admit it... I've wanted to buy the Baby Ull...I've scoured the Internet...called to verify LYS hours this holiday weekend...I've been faithful in DEEDS...just not in my mind.
Here is a taste of how my Guilt works on me...slow and insidious...like a little minion of evil on my shoulder...
"What? LYS? You know... If you go to the LYS...for the Baby Ull...you will be back in that multiple WIP dilemma! Plus, What will Red Think? You know she'll be spiteful and drop stitches again...like she did when you started the green sock and left her at home... Really, H is it worth it?"
When that fails and I'm calculating what exit off the beltway I need to take to get to the LYS by 5pm...
Guilt goes to DEFCOM 5...
"Well, a foolish, fickle, rationalizing cheating girl and her money are soon parted..."
"Didn't you just spend on Ebay for those NEEDLES?"
"Do you NEED the Baby Ull?"
"What happened to using your Stash..."
"What is this...Wool in Summer? Pish!"
"Don't say I didn't warn you..."
Gee, thanks. Okay okay!
Needless to say...I didn't get the Baby Ull...but I WILL!
While Pixie was away this holiday weekend in Upstate NY with her Pops...I spent some QT lounging by the pool, in the balmy evenings knitting on Red... DELISH.
I did say I got Ebay needles right? Well...I have two favorite kinds of needles...
*Cheap ones, erm BARGAIN ones...
*bamboo (specifically Addi Bamboos and Crystal Palace Bamboos)
I scored on both fronts!
Addi Circulars and Crystal Palace Assortment...for 22 bucks. yeah. sweet.
I fullout discoed in my living room when I won that auction.
Why, yes...that is my very own dyed yarn! Thanks for noticing!
Closer peek? So glad you asked.
I know I'm late with the PSpectrum...but meh!
Time, Shmime.
You know what Rocky says about time?
It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely...
With a bit of a mind flip
You're into the time slip...
Anyone care to do the Time Warp? (again)
Posted by Heather at May 31, 2006 09:31 AMOooh, the red cardi is so great! I know what it feels like, and that is even better! Can't wait to see more, H!
Love the PS green socks! and what a score on Ebay too!
Love,
L
Love the red! You will be smashing in it.
Thanks (I think) for putting a tune in my head today.... :)
Posted by: Ann at May 31, 2006 12:43 PMI swear there is no blog I enjoy reading more than yours. You are such a funny, clever girl! Did you ever consider being a writer? You have quite a knack for it ... such a way with words!!
I sometimes think that I was probably leading the pack with WIPs ... at one point I actually had 17 various things on the needles!! This was when I was a new knitter. I've gotten considerably better ... I'm faithfully working on my sister's wrap and occasionally doing a few rows of two wraps I'm working on for myself.
Something red is too cute!
Something Red is turning out so nice! Now I have to go find my old Rocky Horror cassette!!
Posted by: Karyn at May 31, 2006 01:35 PMYour Rocky references make me giggle, bring me back to a very fun time in my life...
The simply red is simply divine! I did a swatch in the oasis, your comments on it are good to know.
Love the green socks!
Looks great! Is red hanging on your MAC in the one pic cuz I think I see the apple peeking through lol.
Posted by: Kim at May 31, 2006 07:11 PMScore! All those needles for $22? Damn, you're good.
Red soy silk beauty = incesant drooling.
Posted by: isel at June 1, 2006 12:24 AMThat is one spicy color on the cardi! Very hot. I can't wait to see this one finished; it's going to look SO CHIC on you. You sure know how to pick 'em.
Posted by: Becky at June 1, 2006 02:20 AMWow, your red is hot, your green is cool!
Posted by: Siow Chin at June 1, 2006 03:26 AMooh, the red looks wonderful. Love your yarn too.
Something Red is something GREAT! I can't wait to see this on you!
Happy to see you're using the... *ahem* kiwi yarn we dyed! I'm thinking I need to pull some of mine out soon!
Love you!
Posted by: keowdie at June 1, 2006 12:44 PMhee hee hee :). ahh. nothing like a little Rocky Horror in the afternoon for a pick-me-up.
I've been thinking more about the holy grail knit. And I do think I have one. I think it's the short row fair isle sweater in Teva Durhams' Loop-d-loop. Love that sweater but it ain't happening anytime soon.
oh, and I love something red!
Posted by: Moni at June 1, 2006 04:30 PMYour Something Red is looking fab, the colour is so rich and gorgeous - great work! xx
Posted by: Annarella at June 4, 2006 05:43 AMSomething red is look-en good! Way fun ebay find!!
Posted by: rachel at June 4, 2006 07:43 PMWHY do I think I see a Mac apple sign on the back of your sweater? I am so confused.
;-) Beautiful dyeing. I am terribly impressed.
Posted by: Jenny at June 4, 2006 09:01 PMlook at you go... a cardi and socks and new needles oh my! Great dye job, I'm really having an innapropriate relationship with the color green these days. And major score on the needles - I never win the auctions that i want to win, i think i'm not a very good ebay-er... Guilt or no guilt you're doing better than me, I can't seem to keep focused on anything less that 5 projects at a time these days and that means I'll never ever finish any of them.
Posted by: sarah at June 4, 2006 11:24 PM"...put your hands on your hips, and pull your knees in tiiiiiiiiiight..." I am now going to be silently doing the time warp (again!) all day!
Simply Red is simply smashing! She'll look amazing on you!!
Posted by: Kathy at June 8, 2006 09:56 AMCongrats on the haul! Have fun with those.
I just love Rocky. Is it so wrong that I liked the way he looked in his undies?
I liked how he looked in Legend too, but that's another story.
:)
