Thanks for all the comments and compliments on YourTax knee socks! It was really cool to see how long it took me.
Project Spectrum
Tropicana Tang Sock #1!
One down One to go.
You can see that it is an anklet of sorts. Really I just wanted instant gratification and I've not done a pair of ankle socks before. Plus, I get to make another pair should I choose to from this yarn!
This is my walkabout project.. where I go it goes...it likes to go outside...
I've been knitting #2 on my lunch hour...waiting at the bank, waiting in the drive thru at the taco bell, and in the remainder of the time...in the sunshine of a beautiful day outside...to dinner with Lolly on Wednesday...on the phone...
Because I am weak...I started another pair of socks...

From Knitting on the Road - Nancy Bush
Pattern:Denmark
Needle:US1 Brittany DPN
Yarn: Tess Designer Sock
I'm actually using 5 dpns...it's very annoying because they are 7" dpns...and there are 4 of them in rotation.
But this pattern is a bit more difficult than my latest cookie cutter socks...therefore more beautiful for the TESS yarn I chose.
The Tess is worth it...A sock yarn beyond compare! A triumph of color! Oh...how I love...
*ahem, since Tess is not paying me to extoll the virtues of their sock yarn, I must admit...I do prefer it a smidge more than, well, anything at this current moment.
See for yourself ---
Tess will be at Sheeps NEXT WEEKEND!!!!
What drew me to this specific sock...was the Nupp Stitch. It's a neat little doodad. One must keep the interest high when wrangling 5 7" dpns. I love the color...I don't know what this colorway is called...but I love it. It reminds me of a Kaleidoscope...
A NEEDLE NEED
Does any one want to trade me a pair of bamboo 1s for a pair of new or practically new Bamboo 2s? (preferably not 7") I have 4 pairs of 2s. Email me & Let me know...
All my needles have been kept in their orignal packaging sleeves. Thanks...
Oh! Stop the Press...
I am taking a Fair Isle knitting class with Ei in 2 weeks! I'm so excited.
It's the little things...like fun with sticks that keep me excited about life. And Pixie too.
Lookit what Pixie and I found this weekend...a robin's nest! (we think it's a robin's nest)
We zoomed in and quickly got out of there before Mama came home...
We're going to revisit to see if the babies are hatched...from afar of course!
The Just for Fun Item for Today
Here is an example of someone whose name rhymes with Smether, who is stuck in the timewarp of the 1980s to early 1990s...
Here are some of my favorites of all time....I make no excuses.
Yeah, um don't ask me who does any new cool music...
I hid with my head in the sand listening to Erasure during the grunge period...
I rummaged through the $5 dollar 80s bargain bin while all my friends were dropping cash like it was hot on strange foreign techno music...
Hey, I tried to listen to it, even recently...with the exception of Franz Ferdinand (which I listen to at Lolly's) or Gwen Stefani (Pixie's favorite radio edits)...
I still reach for the Duran duran, Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Siouxsie laden 80-90s mix on my IPod, than subject myself to bands like the BlackEyedPeas or... or...or... See? I can't even name any and I only know that one because I banned Pixie from singing "My Humps" from that stupid commercial on tv.
le sigh.
Yes, yes....I FEAR CHANGE...
Hello, My name is Heather and I fear change.
Except in Knitting.
Okay a little there, too.
I love the wee orange and pink sock! I'm a huge fan of the ankle length (both for wearing and for knitting)
Posted by: caro at April 27, 2006 03:11 PMI will be in Maryland in a week!!!!!!I'm so excited!!
I heart Tess Yarn! Why I haven't stalked their studio in Maine is beyond me.
What a fun post :) You are awesome! and its okay to like 80s music. Don't apologize for your style!
I love the socks you are working on. They are so pretty and springy. Must be nice to complete a whole sock so quickly! (tiny feet Heather!) The new sock pattern is very nice. Love the textured bit. Tess is perfect for it. Tess tess tess... next weekend we will get more!
Fun dinner last night!! :) Great to see you!
Love,
L
Loooove the ankle sock! In my normal life, I tend to wear short socks. So why am I knitting longer ones? That's what's going through my head when I look at your yummy sock... Anywho, I'm right there with you with the music. I listen to some current stuff, but it's the old stuff from the 80s that perks up my ears. Oooooh L'Amour....
Posted by: Karma at April 27, 2006 03:46 PMYou should check out Depeche Mode's "Playing the Angel" It's new but excellent!
Posted by: Ray at April 27, 2006 04:00 PMThose anklets are cute!! love the color. I also will be at the MSWF on sunday only. Will you be there then?? I am so jealous!! Next year I am going to sign up early, I just found out the other week its the same weekend hubby wants to go to gettysburg. and its only an hour away!!!
Posted by: sherry at April 27, 2006 04:16 PMYou have fab taste in music, dear! I have most of those albums myself :). Hey, the eighties were an awesome decade for music.
You go with the sock knitting! Love the Denmark pattern!
Posted by: Moni at April 27, 2006 04:28 PMWhenver my dad tells me how surprised he is that I like music from the 60's that he like when he was my age, I tell him that good music is good forever. REM and Kate Bush definitely don't fall into that category. Black Eyed Peas? BAD forever.
So stoked to partake of the Tess' next weekend! Their worsted is also fantastic - superwash, handdyed and a fabulous deal!
Posted by: Jenna at April 27, 2006 06:31 PMOld school Madonna is so dang cool. Cute socks too. Specially in the Converse.
Posted by: Sarah at April 27, 2006 07:53 PMYou don't fear change. You just know what you like. ;-)
Posted by: Jenny at April 28, 2006 09:26 AMCute socks. I like the anklet w/ the chucks!

Posted by: Tanya at April 28, 2006 01:31 PMI frequently rock the Totally 80's playlist on my Ipod, too. I know all the words to all the songs, and that's exactly how I like it.
Sheep & Wool is in 7 days - hooray!
Posted by: Sarah at April 28, 2006 01:32 PMI am a big fan of Erasure's music! And of Tess's yarns! I keep buying a hank here and a hank there of the Tess Sock Yarns because they always feel so soft and yet I haven't knit with them yet. Maybe I will pick up just a little bit more next weekend...just for fun, but in different colors. Glad you are enjoying using that yarn! See you at MSW!
Posted by: Rossana at April 28, 2006 02:51 PMI love the socks! I think I have another set of size 1 Brittanys if you haven't found anyone to trade with yet. Wish I was coming to MD S&W, too!
Posted by: Susan at April 28, 2006 09:24 PMSuch cute little socklets!
We most definitely have the same taste in music. What do I have in the MP3 player? Duran Duran. Madonna. Erasure. Pet shop Boys. Def Leppard. Joan Jett. And, to really weirden things up, Beyonce, Pink, Black Eyed Peas and Ricky Martin.
Posted by: Becky at April 29, 2006 05:12 AMdude. you and I are like SO on the same music page!!
Posted by: melanie at April 29, 2006 05:28 PMSocks are beautiful!!
Posted by: esther at April 30, 2006 05:28 PMThe Pogues, The Sugarcubes and Kate Bush!!!!! A gal after my own heart.
Posted by: Bonnie at May 1, 2006 11:16 AMVery cute!!! Umm.. this siter needs a VERY VERY VERY easy first sock pattern. Any ideas? I've got some very pretty orange yarn sitting here on my desk begging to be made into something. But I only have about 120 yards of it. Not enough for a top. It is just a little bigger than sock weight too.
Posted by: Katie at May 1, 2006 11:26 AMHey girl...love the new sock pattern, that is a fabulous book, huh?! I too will be buying me some Tess yarn this weekend. I really can't believe that it is this weekend! Yowza! Can't wait to see you Sunday!

Your orange socks are cute ... that's the length I like for summer socks.
At first I thought those were eggs for Easter Egg Hunt! This is the first time I saw eggs in natural blue colour! I can imagine you girls' excitement when finding those eggs!
socks are adorable but what is UP?? I am worried about you! Where are the fun posts?
Hope all is ok
