Letting Go of the Knit...

Just in time!
PSMarquee_small.gif
I've finished the MARCH pink Project Spectrum Sweater...It is going to my niece - who I hope it fits. If not, I've asked her mom to send it back and I'll reknit to the larger size. She's just turning 2 so I think I'm in the clear as the pattern states 2-3yr.

Pretty in Pink...

Completed: March 2006 (Project Spectrum)
Yarn: Reynolds
Color: Pink
Needle: US 8
Pattern: Knitting Pure and Simple Childs Raglan Sweater
Size:2-3yr

Meh, I always have a wee panic when I'm giving a knit to someone...
All knits given come with a codicil that states...pertaining to said knitted item, it must be returned if not appreciated ahem, if item does not "fit" for redux or gift certificate replacement.
Fit being a relative term, of course.

I think that is a knitters worst fear (outside of gauge going horribly awry or ripping KSH)...
That vision of the person you knitted something for, hating it and putting it into the goodwill pile.

It's a simple raglan sweater...I see all the mistakes...and can't help but doubt in it's welcome.
Maybe that is why I knit for me more than anyone.
I'm always SHOCKED to hear that the giftees really like their beanies/socks/scarves/shawls...

Maybe I need a shot in the ol knitters esteem...
or maybe at some point I need to LET GO OF THE KNIT... heh.
Well, off she goes today *sigh*

Project SPECTRUM April!
button_april.jpg
I've got my eye on some delish orange sherbert-y, mango-rita froo-froo drink colored sock yarn. mmmm.
I won it on ebay...and this seller Kbrece has more!

This yarn makes me want to visit a beach, have lots of drinks and watch boys with tans!

Me thinks I may even branch out a bit with ye old sock pattern...
Mayhap add a bit of peekaboo lace to make them spring worthy! Shorty cuffs? I can't wait to get it and begin my Tropicana socks!

Work has been crazy, Pixie has been fabulous...and I'm knitting away.
New projects abound. I'm working on projects all over the place. I usually a 2 project maximum knitter! arrgh.
Musn't. Let. The. Knitting. Stress. Me. Out.

Work Project:
I'm about 8 inches into the YTDAW knee sock #2...meetings have been rare - we're on work overload here! She'll be getting some action this week, never fear!

Sliding into second on the work project front, is my PJSpectrum Orange Julius Tropicana TANG Pina-Colata Swirl with an Extra Shot of Rum Socks...Can you tell I'm on a roll today? heh.

Zen in Absolute Quiet Project:
I started Birch from Rowan - I had a lace hankering and am well into my second repeat. Pictures to come once I've determined the lace looks good. This is going to be my quiet time knitting project...when there is only me and tea house music playing...this is my Zen project.....Om...

Must knit for myself or Perish Project:
I also got some really gorgeous Dark Rose Jaeger Matchmaker from the Yarn Swapping Event last month...Thanks to Knittish Rosanna - Thanks SOOO much *hugs*!!
This lovely yarn is quickly becoming my Cutaway Cardi from ChicKnits.
Which also means I am on a QUEST...for a shell button to match the rosy hue of the Jaeger.

Exciting times!
I booked my sister's flight to MD for 2006 SHEEPS and WOOLS!!
AND I'm TAKING OFF 2 WHOLE DAYS BEFORE JUST TO SPEND WITH HER!
Good times!

The pink sweater looks darling! I hope it fits. I know what you mean about the anxiety of giving handknits...sometimes it feels safer to give to another knitter!

Yay MSW!!!!

The little pink number is so cute and girly. It will be a great present for the niece. Make sure to get a pic of her in it! I am sure it will fit. (and I have seen it in person!)

Major kudos to you for doing the whole Birch thing. Meh! Lace is too hard for me. One day maybe! In the meantime, I will watch your lovely KSH creation.

Love the new sherbet yarn. It will be *so* perfect for April. It even matched that little button that Teresa made.

Cuteness all around!

Don't worry, I think everybody feels the same way about their knits. All you can do is put all your love in it and hope it gets some more from the receiver.

Love the sherbert-y mangolicious yarn.

How exciting that your sister is coming! I want my sister...booo-hooo.
I'm thinking about taking some days off around that date too. I have some friends coming to town...unfortunately, not interested in wool. What kind of friends are those??!?!
I need new friends.

You got the Jaeger Matchmaker?! That was the only thing I really wanted from the pile. I'm so jealous.

Anyway, I hope we can all get together at the Festival. I can't wait to finally buy some yarn...aahh.

Pretty pictures today! The raglan came out so cute. I am sure she will love it.
That sock yarn looks good enough to eat! What color are you making Birch in? That has been on my to-do list forever. Someday...

The yarn is devine! So yummy! Love the raglan, hope your neice loves it as well.

Oh MDS&W is getting so close! I can't wait to see you and Kelly. We must plan a dinner get-together again.

Nice! I just discovered that seller's yarns ... and to have someone actually having the yarn and review it is great! Her colours are all so wonderful!

I love the way your pink sweater turned out! I'm sure the recipient will love it. Although, I totally understand the whole "knitting for others" thing. I think my worst nightmare would be if one of my handknits ended up in the goodwill pile. How awful would that be? ugh! I knit mostly for myself, too.

Woo hoo! A little more than a month away. I can't wait to meet your skister!

And I know how you feel about giving knits away. Its like giving away a child. I always want to know how they're doing. Are they being taken care of? Is the person tired of it? If so, can I have it back? It make me so sad when I look for sweaters to recycle at Goodwill and see so many beautiful handknit sweaters. Perhaps I should start a handknit rescue center - LOL!

Don't let work OR your knits stress you out. Take care.

The pink sweater looks fabulous. I agree that giving knits is a very scary experience. That's one thing I like about sample knits - I just knit until the pattern says X" without worrying about whether the sleeve will be too short, long, etc.

What a cute sweater! My girls would love it! Hope it's received well! :)

Your sweater is just precious! I would love to receive it as a gift, and I'm sure your recipient will love it too!!(I even ordered the pattern after I saw yours!)

I can see why that tropicana yarn beckoned you -- it's so fun! I'm using some kbrece yarn myself right now, and really liking it. [I can't believe you have TWO work-knitting socks!]

oh, and that pink sweater is totally CUTE!

Great sweater! I'm sure it will be a hit with the little one. It better not end up in the goodwill pile! You are inspiring me to get on the ball with my project spectrum knits--that orange is beautiful!

I'm thrilled to see you also found the kbrece yarn - I'm right now knitting up a pair af turqouise river rapid socks - it is just one of the softest, most beautifully colored yarns I've seen around! That color of yours is gorgeous - knit it up - knit it up! And show us!! ;)

mmmmm, that yarn for april is awesome!!! darling sweater too, knitting for little ones is great - it's quicker and they look cute all the time in anything - you can't loose!!!

Your pink raglan turned out terrific-but I hear what you are saying about giving knit items as gifts. I always worry that the reciever will think I am cheap(some people have no idea what yarn cost, not to mention my time!), or not like the item...but so far so good! The April yarn looks delicious-makes me long for a big ol' bowl of sherbet. Yummm.....
