Toetally Hip

In honor of Socktoberfest...
I'd like to see everyone's pair of show off shoes
I think we all agree...

Handknitted Socks need show off shoes.

This pair is my personal Holy Grail of Shooz...
luverly
Plain Mary Jane Doc Martens.
Perfect for showing off socks.

I showed You --- Now You show me!
(Yah, I'm a Missouri Gal, Can you tell?)

Since the dawn of time, I've been struggling with the method known as toe-up.

I've attempted this for every sock I've knit except for my lovely retro ribs.

To say I'd been thwarted, would be an understatement.

I have cussed, stamped my sockless feet and researched all the different ways to achieve said toe-up sock.

...until now...

I did it.
Hold on to your Butts, this is amazing stuff.

Beginning to see a toeYes, Houston we read you 5 by 5!!WOO!It is all in the details

Here is my latest and greatest sock. My first toe-up sock ever.
yay me! Go H, Go H!

Since it's a confession day...

Let me show you how I never say no to myself.

I like this assumption...

To wear this shirt - one must feel like a Hip Chick who Knits.

Do Hip Chicks Knit?
Oh yes, we do.
To the point of obsession.

Yay! Congrats on the successful toe-up! Isn't that way of knitting socks a blast? No more panic about not enough yarns to cover the toes! I love it.

Great shoes -- love them! And congratulations on the toe-up socks.

Nice socks! And Mary Janes too,... my personal fave style of shoe.

Congrats on the toe up action. I've done one sock toe up, which I found so traumatizing that I can't bring myself to cast on for the second! :)

I love the colors in both of your socks. Funny, I attempted the toe up method for the first time on Tuesday using the figure 8 cast on. Frogged many times before I nailed it. I'm using the camo colored Koigu you gifted me this summer :) Thing 1 has already laid claim to them.

So far "toe up" sock construction has eluded me too! Yours look great!

Yeah you did it! Never thought you couldn't.

Check out my favorite RUBBER clogs on my post entitle SOXS and RUBBERS from about a week or so ago. I love these shoes. I wore them as a nurse for awhile at work. Then took them home because crocks came along and support my back better ....

Congratulations on finally getting the toe up sock! I've never tried it that way, it looks pretty cool.

I love the tee... It's so true. We're hip, we're chicks, we knit, what else needs to be said?

Once you go toe-up you never go back ;-)

lovely footwear - both socks and shoes! I'm always impressed by sockknitters because I never seem to get there myself- I have one sock laying around somewhere - by the time I get to cast on the other one - I probably lost the first one... And that t-shirt is so cool - makes me want one too!

Woohoo - Toe ups! Pixie's birthday looks like loads of fun - she is such a cutie!

Long time lurker, I love your site. I am a HUGE fan of Docs but I have never seen the Mary Janes!! I love them. I looked all over the internet for them after I saw your post, but no luck. WHERE did you get them?

Posted by: kim at October 28, 2005 07:39 PM

Your shoes are awesome! I haven't tried toe up socks as of yet. Frankly they scare me. How do you figure out where to start the heel. They just seem harder to me so I keep ignoring them.

That's a great t-shirt too!

Congrats on conquering the toe-up! The one time I tried them, I got big hoels around the ankles. Maybe you can give me a lesson in preventing that.

Posted by: Jenna at October 29, 2005 07:33 PM

Now I have to try this way :) So, that is the Swizzle right? it looks cute!
