Yeah, I did say that I feel bad if I don't have a FO. BUT! It's only because I've been procrastinating working on the uber slow FBS and the forever b-day sweater for Pixiekins.
I'm an insta-gratification kinda gal, you know.
It's guilt. Guilty,Guilty, Guilty.
Guilt because I've been working on A SOCK.
I started it with HBOs Rome on Sunday at 9pm.
Um, HOT. Every Sunday at 9! mmmm, Titus Pullo
I'm so sock crazy. I'm keep saying "It's a Christmas gift".
Really, it's because all my favorite peeps are working on socks...
and dammit, I *love* socks too!
We began our evening together...
I'd just made sure Pixie was in bed sleeping.
Boyo was out for his Capoeira Class.
All you could hear was the soft kiss the cork makes, as the bottle is opened.

We settled in with a classic...
one that harkened back to our previous jaunt together last night.

It was a lovely evening. We enjoyed ourselves. The sock prefers Richard Burton, and I like Rex Harrison...but we both agree...Cleo is divine!

Doesn't Liz give good face?
So I broke out my sock to show you this am and discovered that I was missing a needle!
This pattern I'm using has me using only 4 needles. Which I like! :)
So I called home, and sheepishly asked Boyo to bring in my needle.
I'm so happy to report, he didn't bat an eye or tease me about it.
That is a man who understands his knitter.
My needle is enroute! Awww!

Jane? Jane Doe and her book Overrated Knits?
Ah, yes.
Please note, this is my opinion and a couple of other knitters I know who have taken her classes...
Please take it with a grain of salt and a sense of humor.
That is how it is intended. :)
More after the jump...
Many of you were curious as to who Jane Doe is...
It was the author of Hot Knits, Melissa Leapman.
While she was a lovely intelligent lady, the incessant book plugging was not what I paid for.
It was a tad on the excessive side.
I had thoughts of beginning a tally.
Or better yet a drinking game!
It would have beat out the Star Jones drinking game for sure!
Yes, I must admit --- it has brought me oodles of pleasure to amuse myself in many a bookstore and now occasionally my blog, when I see her books...
Which I am pleased to report, the lovely talented non knitting Ms. Leapman has 2 new crochet books out which can be located in your nearest Barnes and Noble.
(Yes, I did my impression. No one is safe. Not even the little kid staring at me from the fiction section, clutching his mothers leg.)
I'm sure if you take one of her classes this year...
You'll be treated to a "preview"...
Ad nauseum.
Ahem. :)
snark snark!
x/o
See you next Monday!
All of my talking about socks got you wanting some! I like your Opal colorway too. You sure are moving on those things! Didn't you just start? wowy zowy
I hope I can see you before your big event this weekend...
Posted by: L at September 20, 2005 11:22 AMMmmmm, I also like me some Titus Pullo . . .
Posted by: chris at September 20, 2005 02:23 PMI have that book - and it is currently sitting in the 'If anyone wants it - please take it off my hands for FREE'.
I have not attended any workshops of hers, but I really don't like the book. I bought it sight unseen from Crafters Choice book club. CC offered it at a great price - I should have known....
I just watched Rome for the first time, and I love it. What an excellent show.
Posted by: Lisa at September 20, 2005 02:46 PMWine, knitting, and movies.
Doesn't get much better than that!
Who doesn't love socks right now??? You are sooo not alone! Just don't let it go too far. Wouldn't want Boyo to get too jealous!
Posted by: Erin at September 20, 2005 03:18 PMAh yes, I haven't read a favorable review of that book by knitters yet! All the projects are ridiculous!
Posted by: tara at September 20, 2005 03:35 PMEven when they try to make Liz look bad, she always screws up and looks great.
Thanks for the scoop, now I know what to avoid.
Awww, such a sweetie to bring you a little ole needle.
:)
I was going to watch Rome, then I decided on something else (Law and Order re-runs, probably.) WON'T make that mistake again... even if the story is awful... that's some pretty eye-candy!! lol
Wonderful sock there - and even more wonderful boyo for bringing you the wayward needle!
Posted by: Kathy at September 20, 2005 03:43 PMMmmm...Titus indeed! I'm going to have to start watching that. Lovely sock and I think I'll head home for a glass of wine!
Posted by: Vicki at September 20, 2005 04:21 PMYou're doing Opal socks too! They look great! I'm going to finish mine as soon as I'm done with my sweater. It's starting to get chilly out here!
I was wondering who this Jane Doe was..I can't believe she doesn't knit!
Posted by: Moni at September 20, 2005 10:16 PMSounds like you had a wonderful evening. Socks are so awesome. I have some Koigu calling my name for some holiday socks. Have a great time at Stitches and lets talk SOON about the fiber festival. Me and the Things, might be in your neck of the woods next Friday (if my bro doesn't get shipped off) and would love to hook up with you especially if we can't do Montpelier.

Posted by: Tanya at September 21, 2005 09:31 AMHey girlfriend! What a cute little sockie ya got goin'. Sounds like an ideal evening alone;)
Tomorrow, tomorrow....I'll be with you tomorrow...can't wait! xo Donna
You forgot the "I was pre-med or pre-law (whichever) at NYU and this is how I got into the business and here is my first book and here is my first published design and I can pay the mortgage on my NYC apartment with my design money and let me pass around my second book and this sample sweater and, oh that's right, you paid to be taught something. Well, PR at its best!" Anyway, I did learn some stuff from her, in between all of the other stuff. I wouldn't discourage anyone, but I won't take another class from her, I don't think.
Posted by: Teresa C at September 21, 2005 09:12 PMHow I love Cleopatra. Elizabeth is so classic and everytime I watch it I am boggled at how skinny minny her waiste is. It's an anomaly.
Posted by: Sarah at September 22, 2005 01:44 PMHehe...you crack me up. I can't believe you had wine, knitting and classic t.v. and DIDN'T INVITE ME OVER. That's my kinda evening, my dear.
Posted by: Becky at September 23, 2005 12:03 PMI just love you, my snarky darling.
Although, it seems to me you're more keeping it real than being snarky.
But she doesn't knit? Really? That's just crazy. How do you teach a class if you don't knit? Flabbergasted.
