Lace, Lace, Lace! That is what I have been seeing on the knit-blogiverse...
I've seen Ei's Lovely Birch (go check it out!!) Wow...gorgeous.

Donna was casting on for Birch while I was getting some lovin from ol Charlie.
(You gotta check out her blog for that tale!)

AND...since it's the Summer of Lace...and I'm just only working on 3 other WIPS....

Soooo...Let me take you back to Sunday about 11:30am...

First, I just wanted to see if I could do it...

Kiri
a free pattern from all tangled up (click for pattern)

I started out attempting to use Kidsilk Haze. Bleh. No thanks.

So I used one of my favorite yarns...Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in Putty.
That would be STASH Yarn, thanks very much!
Just to see mind you.

Buddha approves.

I knitted this in my dining room, just me with no distractions.
Every time my stitch count and rows worked out, you could just hear the faintest..."Yesssss!"

No one spoke to me unless I indicated I was on a purling row

I completed row 53 and decided that I am able to knit this lace.
I don't care about gauge...I don't care about any of it.
You can see the leaves!
I am now heading into my 5th pattern repeat. All stitches are on track.
Yessssss!

gah!
So Saturday I went to Borders, not having pre-ordered a book (shame!)
They turned me away...s'alright tho, went to Tar-gey next door...got it for less.
Nah!
Borders, You Book Hoarding Bastages.

I read Book 6. I cried. (Shut up, it's not lame!)
I'm not talking about it until I hear from Lauren.
I was so sad, when I called Lauren on Sunday, her hubby was concerned...
(probably for my mental health!)
SO, No fair giving anything away until my dearest Lauren has read it...:)

Yeah, so I'm thinking about wearing a black armband. Wahh.
All in all? Love Harry.
I wonder if he'd think it was okay to snog a squib like me?

So I have to share my lovely flowers from my boyo...
It's so sweet of him.

Yay for Anniversaries!

Someone posted a while ago about how they have stuffies on their desk...and I responded... "Oy! I have so many..." Pixie leaves little bits of her things behind and I like them. It's a little bit of whimsy. Here is my ever growing collection.

Mean Green came with me today...so I'm on sleeve island until further notice.
Well, at least until I have quiet time to work on Kiri. Shhh!

This just in:Pre-Order Yarn Harlot's New Book

Good for you...I'm proud of you H!!! The leaves look very pretty! If you knit it in Zephyr or Misti Alpaca, it will be airier & much easier to knit than in the KSH.

Pretty roses from Boyo! Hope you had a great anniversary celebration!

Gah! I just started HP, and now you've got me very, very worried! :( Too much to do today with no time to read is going to make it a tough one. Gah!

You're not the only one who cried! I was balling. I had to leave the room because I was sure D would be overly concerned! When is the next book coming out?!?!?! I don't think I can wait as long as we all did for this one!

I am a Rowan subscribee too! I subscribed mainly because of the scarf kit ... it is just too beautiful! I chose mine in dewberry.
You are right, everybody is working on lace. I am tempted towards Kiri too ... but I may try it with KSH ...

YAY for you and Kiri!! Gauge shmage - it looks beautiful.

I haven't even gotten to pick up my HP yet!!! (Definite series of unfortunate events, there - including a 5 hr trek through a deluge of a rainstorm.) Getting it on the way home tonight - maybe I should get a box of kleenex as well?

Your doing Kiri! yay! I have that planned sometime in the near future. Your's looks so good, though, I might just have to cast on sooner than later :). what a gorgeous pattern, and you can really see it with the cotton fleece!

I am sooo going to subscribe to rowan when I move! I've been chomping at the bit to join but decided to wait till I am settled in Spokane.

got my HP in the mail Saturday..My hubby is reading it at the moment, but he's breezing through it. Can't wait to start reading it!

Hmmm... I couldn't get the pattern to pop up, but I'm extremely impressed! Did you knit all that in one sitting? It looks great!

I'm dying for pics of Mean Green!!!!

Your Kiri is looking very lovely! And how nice to get flowers, that is one of my favorite presents to receive! Enjoy!

Posted by: Rachel at July 18, 2005 11:23 PM

Look at your Kiri! You are so cute that it took till row 53 to decide you could do it. OF COURSE you can do it. ;-)

Oh, HP. I have the sixth book right. here. in. front. of. me.

But i must not. Have to get up early. Poo.

I like your little ram (?). Super cute.
I'm not a fan of hairy, loose lace so I like your choice of yarn for the Kiri. It looks great!

Happy Anniversary! Don't you dare reveal the secrets of Harry Potter yet because I'm still trying to find the time to *start* that book. (If you must reveal the plot, please give me fair warning and I will try my best not to peek.) I was thinking of getting a Rowan subscription, and I just got an e-mail about it from them, but now that I see what the free gift is, I *am* so there!

Posted by: Susan at July 19, 2005 08:04 AM

"Just to see" usually turns out to be a bit of a commitment whenever I say it! It's looking great, though, Heather, so let's see some more!!

Thanks for the pre-order link (I've done it and then some). Can't wait!

Posted by: Vicki at July 19, 2005 04:09 PM

way to go on the lace pattern, I too am a little intimidated by lace, I did a super siple scafr pattern once and survived, maybe it's time to try something more impressive, I'm lovin the leaves! I had to check out your 'lovin from charlie' bit, so funny and a cute puppy I might add!

Ooh! Another birch! I LOVE Eileen's, it turned out so well. I am just not a shawl kind of girl...but I did buy my first wrap this weekend. Making slow progress in that direction.
