Well, Duran Duran was awesome. They played a great mix of new and old, I was close enough to check out Andy in his Doc Martens doing the Pete Townsend guitar riffs, Simon almost fell off stage due to a misstep off the platform, John was gorgeous...his hair was perfect as always...Roger spun his sticks and beat those skins...Nick gave Simon the finger for teasing him...and they played all my favorite songs...I screamed, danced, waved, grinned, and swooned. Bottom line, those guys still have it! It was a magical evening...I was sad when it was over. I got a teeshirt for me and for my buddy Tanya...as she was unable to come with me...although I bribed, begged and pleaded... T, you were missed.
Then on Saturday, Lauren and I had a date to dye some skeins!
We used Lambs Pride Bulky and Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool
Here are just a few photogs of our day and the fruits of our labor!
Black Cherry With Both Yarns:
Before

After

Isn't that vibrant? So pretty.
There is no true blue food, but there is blue yarn! Look at that! Lauren and I loved this one the best, I think. Ah, Beautiful Blue!

Before (you can also see beautiful blue soaking...):

After:
This one made us think of sherbet...

Rocket Popsicles! Just in time for the 4th of July!

We had a great time! Kris bbq'd and I got to play with Lolly's puppies! Plus the weather was OPTIMAL! I was very sad to go...especially since my darling Lauren has TiVo and we were watching Crafty Deathmatch... or whatever it's called. Thanks you guys!
Rogue got a little time as well on Saturday evening...I watched Bridget Jones, The Edge of Reason, and got to all those decreases I missed the first go-around! :) Thankfully, I didn't miss any this time. It was a cute movie...and great to knit to.
I got some good knitting time too today, my vogue ribbon tank has grown...you can just make out the arm shaping. I am ready to cast off the center and begin on the neck. Then it's onto the front! Love big needles! YOu can't see the stitches, that's ribbing on the bottom...this pic makes it look big, but really it's small and drapes really nicely.

Well, yesterday was so beautiful... I knit outside!
It was so lovely, just to sit in the sun with the nice cool breeze. I had some relaxing music on, drank a couple beers, and had my knittin'!
Time flies when you are having fun, right?...and I discovered upon coming inside a couple hours later...I am soooo SUNBURNED...hehe...OW!
Have a great day...and don't forget the sunscreen! eeeiyow!
I am the biggest advocate of sunscreen in the WORLD, and here is my girl, H, burnt to a crisp! You are a nut! At least you have all of this pretty Copper Penny to show for it. I love the way that looks all knit up :)
Oh the fun we had! Love the colors we got--even the one that looks so ugly (aquamarine nastiness) turned into a pretty cool mix. Yeah, we are gonna divvy these up soon. I pulled them in and they still smell so sheepy and kool-aidy :)
So glad you had fun at the concert-girl. We have to get a picture of you in your tee. (Plus, I need a flamenco picture with your new raglan!)
You know that hot pink Silky Wool? I bet that would be very nice in the new Knitty pattern "Branching Out"... maybe we can knit that up together ?
Talk to you soon, sweetie pie :)
Posted by: Lolly at April 11, 2005 03:40 PMUm, I seem to remember you promising a picture of John and his perfect hair for me. Cough it up, baby!
Posted by: melanie at April 11, 2005 03:55 PMThe yarns came out great... now if you'll excuse me I'm off to the store to get some orange and raspberry sherbert ice cream. For some reason I've got a hankering for it!
Posted by: Kate at April 12, 2005 10:01 AMDD is SO much fun to watch in concert. You can tell that they have fun being in front of an audience. I hated not being able to go. I'm so excited about my shirt. Can't wait to see pictures. I promise to make it up to you with lots of pink handspun yarn :)
I love the kool aid dye project too. I'm trying to bribe a local tie dyer into letting me play with some of her goodies and some roving later this spring. I can't wait.

Posted by: Tanya at April 12, 2005 11:17 AMHey those look like some fun colors you got from the kool-aid. Though I imagine the fruity smell was sort of over powering huh? Fun stuff. Glad to hear the concert was awesome, but then, you knew it would be!
Posted by: Erin at April 12, 2005 11:55 AMWow, you had quite the crafty weekend! You are inspiring me to try kool-aid dying. You'r creations look awesome!
Sounds like Duran Duran was awesome..*swoon*
Posted by: Moni at April 12, 2005 01:26 PMThe dyed yarn looks scrumptious!!! glad you had a great time at the DD concert, sounds like you had an all around great weekend.
I wish I could have been with you guys. It looks like so much fun to do. I need to try dying. What...no pics of my girls? Can't wait to see the dye job in person. YUM! BBQ! :-)
Posted by: Eilene at April 12, 2005 04:01 PMCare to share the exact recipe for your sherbet and blue yarns??? I especially love the blue.
Posted by: the country girl at April 12, 2005 04:09 PMWhat fun days. SO glad. Glad DD still rock! Hope to see you at MD S&W!
Posted by: Jenny at April 14, 2005 01:50 AMWonderful colors in your yarns! Isn't it fun? The more you do, the more combinations you think of to try. Every time I dye, I plan to write down what I did with swatches, but I get too caught up in what I'm doing and forget. I really like the Copper Penny pattern. Where did you find it? It's looking great!
